Welcome. I'm not new, but this is.

Welcome to the Anthony Verna Legal New Media Consulting new blog and e-mail list. If you are reading this on the web - join the e-mail list at consulting@anthonyverna.com. If you are reading this in your inbox, then you can view it on the web at http://avlegalbiz.blogspot.com (for now).

It was a pleasure to speak at the New York City Bar Association and the annual Small Law Firm Symposium.

Lawyers need to understand that social media is a part of business today. Small law firms and solo practices are just that - small businesses. Social media allows any business to get its message out. If you did not get a copy of the Five Mistakes Lawyers Make in Social Media, please ask me and I will send it to you.

It's Thanksgiving season. I spent it with my parents, grandparents, my sister, brother-in-law, and an uncle, aunt and two cousins. The food was delicious (and, yes, I did help to cook it). But it reminded me that the end of the year is almost here.

So it's time to reflect. Are you getting the kind of business that you expected to this year? Remember, I doubled my fees this year.

I ask you to think about the ideal, target client that you are looking for. Do you know it yet? Take a minute or hour to really think about this. Who is your legal practice targeted at? Who is your ideal client?

Do you want businesses? Persons? Then break it down from there. Knowing your ideal client is the first step in knowing how you will get more business.

Tell me about your ideal client and I will publish a couple responses next time.

Remember - Anthony Verna Legal New Media Consulting is about getting lawyers more business through traditional and new media. I have Facebook and Twitter accounts for my law practice at http://facebook.com/anthonyvernalaw and http://twitter.com/avernalaw - read along and participate. Let me teach you what I have learned. If you would like a consultation, just send an e-mail to consulting@anthonyverna.com or call at 917-348-0108.
